Our History
ICE-CREAM MAN is a proud third-generation family business that began in Thessaloniki, Greece, in 1943. Starting with a small manufacturing operation, we sold ice cream at festivals across Europe before bringing our craft to Australia in 1965.
Here, we continued the family tradition—both producing and retailing ice cream—and became recognised pioneers of the mobile “Mr Whippy” ice-cream van concept during the mid-1960s.
Today, our specialty remains mobile ice-cream vans. You’ll find us serving our delicious vanilla soft serve and sorbet gelati at school fetes, festivals, corporate events, shows, carnivals, and private functions—delivering the same passion for quality ice cream that has defined us for over 80 years.
We’ve set the benchmark in mobile ice-cream vending—raising standards with modern vans, fresh ideas, and an eco-friendly approach.
ICE-CREAM MAN is proud to be one of Australia’s first fully environmentally friendly ice-cream van operators. Our 2024 solar- and lithium-powered van means no noisy generators and no toxic fumes—perfect for any event. This innovation took over a decade of planning, driven by our commitment to sustainability.
All vans are fully certified with Food Registration Certificates and comply with the Victorian Food Safety Program.
